On 26 September this year, a meeting with the Patent Examiners from the European Patent Office was held at the main office of Polservice, which hosted the event. The meeting was opened by Mr. Andrzej Ponikiewski, the President of the Management Board, and co-hosted by Mr. Dariusz Rybarczyk, our company’s Patent Attorney. The Examiners from EPO were present to answer questions concerning the practice of the European Patent Office with regard to the examination of patent applications and the guidelines governing the granting of protection for computer-implemented inventions. During the meeting, a very rich and substantive debate took place on the differences in the interpretation of the provisions and practices applied by the European Patent Office and the Polish Patent Office. The participants of the meeting also discussed the assumptions underlying the implementation of the unitary patent.
